Health Response Alliance Responds to Changes in U.S. Vaccine Recommendations
Falls Church, VA · January 6, 2026
Health Response Alliance issued a statement today in response to federal changes to national vaccine recommendations and schedules announced by health officials. HRA expressed concern about the downstream effects on vaccine communication and delivery, particularly for communities affected by disasters and public health emergencies.
"Disasters and public health emergencies often increase the risk of disease transmission as people are displaced, shelters fill up, and access to routine care is disrupted. In those moments, clear vaccine guidance and reliable access matter even more. Our concern is making sure families and providers are not left navigating uncertainty when the risk is actually higher."
Changes to federal vaccine schedules and recommendations have direct consequences for how clinicians counsel patients, how health systems manage supply and logistics, and how communities interpret guidance. When those changes arrive without adequate transition planning or clear communication, the gaps become most acute for populations that are already at elevated risk during emergencies.
HRA called for emergency-ready vaccine policy that accounts for the realities facing families, clinicians, and health systems under strain. Specifically, HRA emphasized the need for clear communication to providers about updated schedules and how to counsel patients, reliable vaccine access for disaster-affected communities including populations sheltering in place or displaced, and alignment between federal guidance and state and local health department operations so implementation does not fall through the cracks.
Health Response Alliance is committed to monitoring the implementation of updated vaccine guidance and will work with public, private, and nonprofit partners to support communities as changes take effect.
